The Sognefjell Road is among the top ten bike rides in the world, according to the British newspaper the Guardian. Its “icy beauty is out of this world”.
Accross the roof of Norway
In majestic surroundings, high in the Jotunheimen Mountains, past blue ice, snowcapped peaks and emerald lakes, the Sognefjell Road runs between the Sognefjord, the world’s second longest fjord, and Gudbrandsdalen.
The Sognefjell Road is the highest and most impressive mountain pass in Northern Europe (highest point 1,430 metres above sea level). It has been awarded the status National Tourist Route because of the spectacular and wild mountain scenery it passes through. The road is also an important part of the famous bicycle race Tour de Jotunheimen.
